You know how when you are sitting on your sofa, or drinking coffee and you look around the house and feel something amiss. Like why is the cat not roaming around or licking itself, like a room in need to be alive. It needs something breathing, a living thing. When I feel that, I’d skip out and bring back a bunch of flowers. The simple act of choosing, feeling the wrapped goodness in your arms and then cutting off the stems before placing them in a vase – is just something of a delight. Remember that movie City of Angels with Meg Ryan? She cycles to the market to buys some pears for her love, and as she rode back – she was happy, fulfilled and free in the sun. It’s sorta, kinda like that with me and flowers.
I’d find a place in the house for the flowers, stare at the prettiness of the delicate petals and whip out my phone – because I just have to photograph it, tag it #flowers #pretty #happy #peace and #joy . Then, it just feels right. I want to have my coffee now and enjoy copious amounts of reading and napping, with a bit of music and the cat by my side.
